A Stratford school bus driver has been arrested for possession of child pornography after police received a tip from the Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

John Kenneth Stone, 76, of Stratford, was arrested on Thursday, May 23, after the Stratford Police Department Detective Bureau received a child pornography complaint from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in February, said Stratford Police Capt. Frank Eannotti.

Detectives conducted an investigation which led to the identification of Stone who is employed as a school bus driver with the Durham Bus Services, Eannotti said.

Following an investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at Stone’s home in Stratford. During the search, officers seized a laptop computer that contained a large number of images and videos identified as child pornography, Eannotti said.

Stone was charged with first-degree child pornography and was released after posting a $250,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court on May 31.

Durham Bus Services reported that Stone, who was suspended last week when notified of the investigation by police, has been fired from his position as of Tuesday, May 23.
